What is a Matterport virtual tour?
Like our Bespoke Tours, a Matterport tour is an interactive 3D representation of a real-world space. Visitors can explore the property from their browser, move between rooms, where enabled, access features such as measurements and a 3D floor plan (Dollshouse View)
How is a Matterport tour different from a bespoke virtual tour?
Matterport allows the easy creation of the "Dollshouse" 3D model view. Every Matterport Tour is the same, no matter who shoots it for you. Our bespoke virtual tours are built using professional 360° photography equipment and our own iViewVR platform, giving us far greater flexibility to customise the experience, presentation, navigation and interactive content around your specific requirements.
How long does it take to create a Matterport tour?
The time required depends on the size and complexity of your space. Once we have completed the scan, the Matterport platform processes the captured data into the interactive 3D model. We can then prepare and publish the finished tour for you. Typically 12-48 hours for an average-sized tour, such as a 5-bedroom house.
Can Matterport tours include floor plans and measurements?
Yes. Matterport can generate interactive 3D floor plans and provide measurement functionality, making it particularly useful for property, construction, facilities management and architectural applications. The exact features available can depend on the Matterport package and capture process.
Can you create a virtual tour without Matterport?
Absolutely. Matterport is just one of the technologies we offer. For clients looking for a more customised experience, we create high-quality bespoke 360° virtual tours using professional photography and our iViewVR platform. These can incorporate interactive hotspots, information panels, video, aerial imagery, maps, floor plans and other features tailored to your objectives.
What are the ongoing costs for a Matterport tour?
Matterport uses the term “Active Space” for each virtual tour stored and available online within a Matterport subscription. Most small to medium-sized tours require one Active Space, while larger commercial properties may require two.
Active Spaces are charged annually, with the cost determined by Matterport’s current subscription pricing. If your tour requires additional Active Spaces, we will let you know before the tour is created so there are no unexpected costs.
Can you change how a Matterport Tour looks?
Yes. We can customise the presentation of your Matterport tour using our own iViewVR editing platform. This allows us to add menus, information panels, additional interactive features and your own branding, including logos and colours.
You can also make many of these changes yourself, directly from your web browser, without needing specialist software or technical knowledge.
The level of customisation is dependent on the features and capabilities of the underlying Matterport viewer. If you need a completely bespoke look, navigation or interactive experience, our custom PikoDesign virtual tours offer considerably greater flexibility.
