Materials Congress 2004

This is the fourth in a series of major materials conferences organised by the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. Materials Congress is now established as an important biennial event in the materials conference calendar. The scope of Congress 2004 will cover the complete materials cycle, from minerals exploration and extraction, through processing, product manufacture and applications, to product recycling and land re-use.

Of particular relevance to the Consortium will be the symposia on Self-organised liquid crystal semi-conductors which is being organised by Prof. Richard Bushby, a Consortium member.

Sharp Laboratories of Europe (SLE), based in the Oxford Science Park , have added their support to the Consortium and we look forward to a fruitful collaboration.

SLE has have over sixty scientists developing a variety of new technologies such as 3D and minature projection displays and semiconductor lasers. SLE collaborates extensively with other Sharp labs in the USA, India and Japan as well as with university researchers.

More details of the research undertaken at SLE is available at http://www.sle.sharp.co.uk/.
